The Australian Ceramics Triennale is Australia's premier national gathering bringing ceramic artists, educators, theorists and collectors from around the country, and the world, together to interrogate the field of contemporary ceramic practice. This is the first time in its 45 year history that the Triennale will be held in Tasmania.
For the first four days of May 2019, Hobart's waterfront arts precinct will be home to a full program of rich and engaging discourse. Presentations, exhibitions, demonstrations and conversations by, with and amongst some of the world's most exciting practitioners who will speak to the themes of Holding Space Making Place. A host of extra-curricular activities including film screenings, philosophy cafe, performative acts, fire sculptures and food events will draw upon and mingle with Tasmania's vibrant art and food culture. A key feature of the Tasmanian Triennale is the engagement with the community through exhibitions, demonstrations and market style sales. Satellite events around the state both before and after the conference including workshops, master classes, kiln firings, studio visits and exhibitions will allow for ongoing dialogues and the expansion of skills and ideas whilst providing opportunity for further exploration of Tasmania's stunning natural environment.
